WACO, Texas -- The distractions might be getting to Baylor. Cheapest Air Force 1 .On the eve of the Bears latest football game, assistant football coaches disputed claims by school regents that former coach Art Briles knew of a gang rape involving former players. Then, as the 17th-ranked Bears got ready to play TCU on Saturday, black T-shirts supporting the popular former coach were being sold outside the stadium.Baylor then went out and suffered its worst home loss since 2005, as it fell 62-22 to the Horned Frogs. It was Baylors second loss in a row after a 6-0 start.A lot of distractions dont help, acting head coach Jim Grobe said. This is a game you really got to spend all your focus on for 12 games during the season to play well, and if you dont, this is what happens.During a meeting Thursday with the Dallas Morning News editorial board, Baylor regent David Harper said he knew of at least one instance in which Briles was told of an allegation of gang rape and didnt report it to proper authorities. He was made aware of one of the allegations of a gang rape, Harper told the Morning News. At least one of them. I cant tell you if he knew or didnt know about the others. On Friday night, Baylors assistant coaches, including Briles son, Kendal, son-in-law, Jeff Lebby, and several staff members disputed Harpers claims in a statement on Twitter. In the statement, the assistant coaches claimed the alleged victim reported [the incident] to her head sport coach, and the coach reported to his superior (former athletic director Ian McCaw).According to the assistant football coaches statement, McCaw instructed the head coach to report the incident to Baylors office of judicial affairs, which the coach did. The assistant coaches claimed Briles wasnt made aware of the incident involving football players and the alleged victim until nine months after the alleged incident occurred.According to the statement, the alleged victims coach informed Briles that he reported the incident to McCaw and judicial affairs. The statement said Briles told [the victims coach] to report it to the police and prosecute the players if there was any wrongdoing. The Baylor assistant coaches claimed in the statement that the victims coach later said, I think Coach Briles handled the matter honorably and with the serious attention it deserved. The statement claims that the womans coach also stated that Briles followed up and was informed that the alleged victim did not want to report the incident to police. The assistant coaches also claimed that Briles never had contact with the woman.Grobe said he didnt know about the tweeted statement in advance but said he wouldnt step in the way when the coaches wanted their perspective known.During Saturdays game, about 400 shirts displaying #CAB, which stands for Coach Art Briles, were sold outside the stadium. LONDON -- Nick Kyrgios didnt want to sit down at the change of ends when Andy Murray broke him for 2-1 in the third set. Joe Biagini Jersey . He stood around waiting for the inevitable, as if he just wanted to get off Centre Court and back to the locker room -- and he got his wish soon enough.Murray was expected to win Mondays fourth-round match against Kyrgios given that he was the odds-on favourite to capture his second Wimbledon title, but not in 103 minutes. The first set was good. The rest of the match was pretty pathetic, a visibly despondent Kyrgios said in his postmatch news conference.I was really comfortable out there the first set. I thought I was playing some really good tennis. I believed that I could win the match. As soon as I lost the first set, I just lost belief. Felt like a mountain to climb. What was supposed to be the first true test for Murray at these championships became a breeze, as the world No. 2 won 7-5, 6-1, 6-4 to set up a quarterfinal match against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. After the Scot edged a nip-and-tuck first set, Kyrgios seemed to check out mentally at 2-1 and 15-40 down in the second set, which he surrendered in just 26 minutes. What do I do? was all Kyrgios could say to his team as Murray toyed with him in the third set, tempting him out of his comfort zone and punishing him. The Briton was in his head. When things get tough, Im just a little bit soft, said the Australian. Ive got experience, but it ultimately comes down to just laying it all out there and competing for a long time. I didnt do that today at all.Kyrgios gave an honest no when asked if he was applying himself with all his heart to become the best tennis professional he can be.How can he go about changing that? I dont know, he replied. To be honest, I woke up this morning and played computer games. Is that the greatest preparation? I dont know. But it was fun.His decision to sit down in the Court 18 stands watching Lleyton Hewitt play doubles just two hours before he was due on Centre Court was also questionable in terms of getting himself ready to face a player of Murrays calibre. Kyrgios, however, disagreed.Whether I was in the locker room sitting down or sitting down next to the court I dont think really made a difference, he said.Centre Court had expected fireworks between two of the great personalities of the game, but they were left with a one-sided encounter as Murray put on a masterful performance and Kyrgios ultimately capitulated.[Murray] said sorry, Kyrgios revealed of their conversation at the net after the match. I said, Its OK, just win the tournament, please. Then we hugged.Perhaps Kyrgios showed too much respect for his friend Murray -- there was none of the usual feisty attitude that feeds his game, the sparks that he thrives on.John McEnroe, commentating for the BBC, suggested Kyrgios needs to hire a coach if he is to find his focus and fulfill his potential. But Kyrgios said: One week Im pretty motivated to train and play. Im really looking forward to getting out there. One week Ill just not do anything. I dont really know a coach out there that would be pretty down for that one.I know that I have the talent to do good things. Its just ... yeah.Murray claimed time was on Kyrgios side, but the sooner he makes improvements the better it will be for his career. Its about finding the right people to help you with different things, Murray said during his new conference. For some it may be a coach. For some it might be a psychologist. Sometimes it might be speaking to family about stuff.Theres not one way of tackling it. But if you want to continue to get better, then you speak and listen to as many people as you can, and take on board the things you think will help you.Kyrgios has admitted in the past that he prefers playing basketball to tennis. It was perhaps telling he looked more passionate giving his opinion on Kevin Durant agreeing to a deal with the Golden State Warriors -- Disgrace. Its a joke. Im not watching the NBA -- than he did on court or answering questions about his match. At times I dont love the sport. But I dont really know what else to do without it, he said. West Indies Cricket Board Presidents XI 180 and 26 for 1 (Ashwin 1-14) trail Indians 364 (Rahul 64, Jadeja 56, Kohli 51, Cornwall 5-118) by 158 runsScorecardWhile KL Rahul struck his second consecutive half-century of the tour, captain Virat Kohli and allrounder Ravindra Jadeja also struck form with fifties on the second day of the warm-up match against West Indies Cricket Board Presidents XI in Basseterre. All of Indias batsmen except Shikhar Dhawan, who made a fifty in the first match, scored in double digits as the visitors made 364 to lead the hosts by 184 in the first innings. They looked set to score more when Rahul and Kohli were batting but offspinner Rahkeem Cornwalls five-for restricted them.Resuming the second day at 93 for 3, the Indians were led by Rahul who marched from his overnight 30 to score 64 before retiring out. Rahul and Kohli put on a partnership of 88 for the fourth wicket as Kohli scored 51. But the captain was dismissed soon after Rahul retired, lbw to Cornwall, who had also dismissed Cheteshwar Pujara the night before. That was the purpose of coming here early to get used to the wickets and conditions and Im really happy with the way Ive batted in the last two innings, Rahul said after the days play. The wickets here have been hard, the weather is hot and humid so its not very easy to go out there and get runs but [Ill] try to use these two innings and the time before the Tests to prepare well for the Test series. So Im really happy with the way Im prepared.Out here it was a little slow and the outfields heavy and thhe ball is getting really soft after 20-30 overs, so getting runs is kind of hard. He first put on 44 with Saha and then 47 with R Ashwin, who scored a patient 26 off 61. Jadeja was eventually caught and bowled by Cornwall, who finished with 5 for 118.The pitch is offering a little bit so you have to be consistent with your lines, Cornwall said. No nerves whatsoever [against a strong batting line-up], I back my skills to do what I have to do and at the end of the day were playing a game of cricket, so they have to bat and I have to put the balls in the right areas. It is very special, they are top quality batsmen, you have to do your best against them. This will take me a long way. Once you perform against the best, it will always urge you to perform better. This game taught me a lot - I think patience and the way some of these guys carry themselves. It kept me to go and improve on my game. The hosts batted for eight overs before stumps and lost opener Leon Johnson, caught and bowled by Ashwin, for 17 in the last over of the day. TORONTO -- Toronto FC officially parted ways with English midfielder Hogan Ephraim on Tuesday while opening its doors -- if only as a temporary courtesy -- to another Queens Park Rangers player. Red Wings Jerseys China . Forward David (Junior) Hoilett, a native of Brampton, Ont., and his younger brother Jaineil, who plays in Gemany, are training temporarily with the MLS team before returning to their respective clubs training camp in Europe. Ryan Nelsen played at QPR before taking over as Toronto FC manager earlier this year. It could be the closest fans here see of Hoilett in a Canadian team uniform. While Jaineil has represented Canada at the under-20 level, Junior has yet to decide his international allegiance. Hes also eligible for Jamaica and has reportedly said he would consider England if he met the requirements. Asked Tuesday about where his international future lies, the pocket-sized speedster smiled and said: "My lips are sealed right now." A polite Hoilett had little to say to reporters but spoke admiringly about Torontos practice facility ("Better than our facility back at QPR"), training and players, and said he was committed to helping QPR fight its way back to Englands top tier following relegation. "It was a difficult season, of course," he said. "We underperformed and its been a tough season. But were going to try to fight hard and get back in the Premier League where we belong." Hoilett, who turns 23 on Wednesday, plans to train with Toronto for a few weeks to prepare for QPRs pre-season, which opens in early July. The 21-year-old Jaineil plays for a lower-tier German side. Chief scout Pat Onstad and president Kevin Payne are on the road in Argentina while OLeary is headed to Spain next. "Were trying to add some real quality in this next (transfer) window," said OLeary. "But we want to make sure we get the right ones." The club announcement on Ephraim came several hours after the player landed in London. He had tweeted on the weekend that QPR wanted to end his loan spell so he would be "refreshed" for pre-season. "Toronto it has been a pleasure - unbelievable people and treated me so well .muchlove," he tweeted. Ephraim had limited success in Toronto this season as a winger and attacking midfielder, showing some nice touches without being able to put his stamp on games. He saw action in 11 matches, starting nine. Toronto (1-7-5), winless in 11 league games, has the weekend off before visiting D.C. United (1-10-2) on June 15. OLeary, like other members of the coaching staff, was nothing but positive Tuesday despite the recent run. Torontos most recent result was a disappointing 1-1 tie with the visiting Philadelphia Union, thanks to a goal conceded in second-half stoppage time. "What do you do when youre in a difficult spell?" OLeary asked. "You just keep your head down, you keep working. "I think (from) the response of the fans, thats what they saw. They saw a team that was vibrant, was fighting for them, was fighting for Toronto FC. And I think well keep doing that and results will turn here. "Well add a little more quality. ... This thing will turn. Were a competitive team now. Well start turning these performances into points sooner than later." Striker Danny Koevermans and midfielder Terry Dunfield are both expected to play for the Toronto reserve side on Friday night in Pittsburgh against the Riverhounds, a USL Pro team. Koevermans, who was sidelined by knee surgery, got his first taste of first-team action in more than 10 months Saturday when the Dutch star came on as a substitute in the 86th minute against Philadelphia. Dunfield, meanwhile, is back after suffering a hyperextended knee. Notes: OLeary said it was too early to say how much action Koevermans would see at D.C. United. ... ST. Fake Flames Jerseys . PETERSBURG, Fla. -- The Tampa Bay Rays are running out of explanations for a frustrating stretch thats dumped them into a deep hole in the AL East. The last-place team lost for the 12th time in 13 games on Tuesday night, failing to take advantage of early opportunities to score runs and unable to stop Boston from pulling away late in an 8-2 Red Sox victory. One night after snapping an 11-game losing streak by pounding out a season-high 18 hits in a 13-7 win, the Rays went 0 for 5 with runners in scoring position against Rick Porcello, whose ability to minimize damage during a fourth-inning jam proved to be the difference. The Rays loaded the bases with no outs in the fourth, but only scored once -- with Porcellos third walk of the inning forcing in the run. The Boston right-hander, who had not walked more than two batters in any of his previous 19 starts, wiggled off the hook by getting Logan Forsythe to fly to right field and fanning Hank Conger and Brad Miller.Ultimately, it came down to the fourth inning, manager Kevin Cash said. We didnt get it done when we had an opportunity.Porcello (9-2) and reliever Junichi Tazawa didnt allow another baserunner until Millers solo homer trimmed Tampa Bays deficit to 6-2 with two outs in the seventh.Travis Shaw homered and drove in five runs for the third time this season for Boston, which snapped a three-game losing streak. That fourth inning, it was a huge spot to get out of that jam, Shaw said. A lot of things havent been going right, but I dont think our confidence or our faith in everybody in this locker room was swayed one bit.Shaw had a solo homer, a two-run double and a two-run single. David Ortiz continued to climb the career RBI list with a third-inning double, and Jackie Bradley Jr. and Hanley Ramirez also drove in runs for Boston. We had a very good offensive night, manager John Farrell said. Travis Shaw hitting the home run kind of jumpstarted us, and a big night he continued to have.Shaw homered in the second inning. Ortizs hit gave the Red Sox a 2-0 lead against Chris Archer (4-11), whos gone from being an All-Star a year ago to leading the major leagues in losses this season.Overall, I felt like I pitched a decent game, Archer said. But it was not good enough to get the win, so Im not very happy with it.Archer, who allowed four runs and seven hits over 6 1/3 innings, fell to 1-8 lifetime against the Red Sox, whove won eight straight decisions against the right-hander.TRAINERS ROOMRays: OF Corey Dickerson (sore left thumb) missed his third straight but was available to pinch hit. ... RHP Alex Cobb (Tommy John surgery) is scheduled to throw a batting practice session Thursday.CLOSING TIMERays closer Alex Colome was placed on the 15-day disabled list with right medial biceps tendinitis. CINCINNATI -- Seventh-ranked Xavier allowed an average of 83 points in its first five games. But, in the past two contests, both against Northern Iowa -- one of the nations best 3-point shooting teams -- the Musketeers gave up only 59 and 42 points, respectively.Defense was a struggle for Xavier at times last season, too. But, it appears this seasons team is beginning to figure things out at that end of the floor.I dont worry about offense, I never do, said head coach Chris Mack. Well figure out ways to score. Were going to have those nights when we dont. But if we defend at this level, well be in most every game we play. The Musketeers finally get to face a new opponent when they host North Dakota State on Tuesday night (6:30 p.m. ET) at Cintas Center.Among the keys to the turnaround is the maturation of point guard Edmond Sumner, a dynamic offensive player whos taken some time to develop into a quality defender. He held Northern Iowas hot shooting guard Jeremy Morgan scoreless in the first half of Saturdays 64-42 win.Edmond a year ago was lost off the ball, said Mack. Hes grown up a lot.Xavier (6-0) played Northern Iowa twice in six days -- in the championship game of the Tire Pros Invitational in Orlando (won by Xavier 67-59) and in Saturdays regularly scheduled matchup at Cintas Center. It was the first time since 1960 that the Musketeers played the same non-conference opponent in consecutive games. Now Xavier faces an opponent it has nnever met. Stitched Flames Jerseys. The Bison (5-2) are coming off a 64-50 loss to Missouri State on Sunday in which they couldnt overcome a 17-point halftime deficit. North Dakota State got 19 points from sophomore guard Khy Kabellis and Paul Miller finished with nine, but it never was closer than 10 points after halftime. The Bison boast one of the nations top 3-point shooters in junior guard A.J. Jacobson, although he connected just once in Sundays loss. He is 14-of-18 from beyond the arc this season. The Bison shoot 36 percent as a team from 3-point range.Kabellis getting on a roll bodes well for North Dakota State. He scored 13 of his points in the second half and was 3 of 7 from 3-point range Sunday. It was nice to see him get going, Bison coach David Richman told the Fargo Form. We needed that from the start though, from everybody. The Bison will need contributions from everyone if they are going to be competitive against Xavier, a top-10 Big East Conference opponent on the road. The Musketeers are firing on all cylinders, led by J.P. Macura, whos averaging 17.7 points and 3.5 assists. Guards Trevon Bluiett and Sumner both are averaging better than 16 points per game.Xavier must not get caught looking ahead to Saturdays clash with No. 9 Baylor in Waco, Texas.Good teams lock in on the challenge and the moment, said Mack. ALLEN PARK, Mich. LeSean McCoy Jersey . -- Three times in the past five years, the Detroit Lions have drafted an offensive lineman in the first round. Now its time for that young group to show some real progress. One of the things youre going to notice is that were bigger and stronger. Its going to be more competitive, coach Jim Caldwell said recently. We have a couple spots were going to be fairly young, but I think in the grand scheme of things if we can keep them all healthy, keep them battled and fighting, were going to come out of there with a really big unit up front. Im certainly convinced of that. With Calvin Johnson lost to retirement, the Lions still have their share of skilled offensive players in Matthew Stafford, Golden Tate and Ameer Abdullah. The big question is whether Detroit can build on its encouraging finish in 2015 -- or whether the offense will look as it did when the team lost seven of its first eight games.A lot will depend on the offensive line. The Lions have had to reshuffle their line quite a bit over the past few seasons, with Jeff Backus, Rob Sims and Dominic Raiola having moved on into retirement.Detroit used valuable first-round draft picks on tackle Riley Reiff (2012), guard Laken Tomlinson (2015) and tackle Taylor Decker (2016) -- and the Lions also took guard Larry Warford (2013) and center Travis Swanson (2014) in the third round. Those five players all figure to play significant roles this season as Detroit tries to recover from its disappointing 2015. Stafford was sacked 44 times last season, bringing his total to 89 over the past two years. The Lions also averaged only 83.4 yards rushing per game, the worst mark in the NFL.Both those stats were a bit of an indictment of the offensive line.We learned from the mistakes we made, and weve moved on, Warford said. Weve got to focus on what were doing now as a group.Reiff has started every game hes played for the past three years, and Tomlinson was a starter for most of last season. The Lions have high hopes for Decker -- Caldwell said he could play either left or right tackle.Reiff now seems like the veteran of the bunch, and Caldwell said he expects plenty of intensity from the 27-year-old tackle no matter which side of the line hes on.Riley is a warrior. Riley does not care about anything other than wanting to play his position and play it well and he doesnt care where he plays, Caldwell said.Hes a talented guy thats tough and hard-nosed, the exact kind of guy that youre looking for to lead your group.Much of Detroits resurgence toward the end of last season could be attributed to a schedule that eased up down the stretch, but the Lions hope that improvement was a sign of things to come.In late October, Detroit fired its offensive coordinator and two line coaches. Tight ends coach Ron Prince took over the offensive line. Now the offensive linemen have had a chance to work with Prince for a while and become comfortable with Jim Bob Cooter, who was promoted to offensive coordinator during last years shakeup. That familiarity -- and the natural maturation process with top draft picks -- could pay dividends at the line of scrimmage this season. With offensive line play -- in all of football -- theres two aspects, theres mental and physical, Warford said. A roundup of the past weeks notable boxing results from around the world:Saturday at Las VegasManny Pacquiao W12 Jessie Vargas - Fight recap Wins a welterweight title Scores: 118-109 (twice), 114-113 Records: Pacquiao (59-6-2, 38 KOs); Vargas (27-2, 10 KOs)Rafaels remarks: Pacquiao, the 37-year-old Filipino legend, showed he still has it with this impressive one-sided win to regain a welterweight title (despite the horrendous 114-113 card turned in by judge Dave Moretti, who would have had it a draw had Pacquiao not scored a knockdown). It was Pacquiaos second lopsided win in a row since the loss to Floyd Mayweather in their 2015 mega fight and Pacquiaos first since his brief retirement following his win over Timothy Bradley Jr. in April and subsequent election to the senate in his home country. Pacquiao, a southpaw and boxings only eight-division world titleholder, may not have gotten the knockout he so badly wanted (because he hasnt had one since 2009) but he pounded Vargas, 27, of Las Vegas, with a variety of punches from angles, including a sharp straight left hand that dropped him in the second round.Vargas, who was making his first title defense, was game and landed some nice shots on Pacquiao, but he was outclassed by the all-time great, who put on the rousing performance with the supposedly retired Mayweather, his invited guest, sitting ringside with his daughter in a surprise appearance. It is clear the wheels are in motion for a rematch of boxing richest fight ever. Their first fight was a massively anticipated showdown but turned out to be a wholly forgettable fight and nothing more than a business transaction based on naked greed. But a rematch is inevitable since neither fighter can make anything close to what they will make to do it again.Jessie Magdaleno W12 Nonito Donaire Full undercard recap Wins a junior featherweight title Scores: 118-110, 116-112 (twice) Records: Magdaleno (24-0, 17 KOs); Donaire (37-4, 24 KOs)Rafaels remarks: Despite a scoring that many disagreed with, this was a helluva fight between a young up-and-comer in Magdaleno, a 24-year-old southpaw from Las Vegas, and a proud veteran four-division titleholder in Donaire, 33, a Philippines native living in Las Vegas, who was making his second title defense. They battled hard from the opening bell and by the time the fight was over both looked they had been in a tough fight. Magdaleno was cut over his left eye from an accidental clash of heads in the fourth round and Donaire had bruises and welts on his face and needed three stitches to close a cut around his right eye. Magdaleno put rounds in the bank in the first half of the fight but Donaire closed the fight in dominant fashion. The judges, however, seemed to ignore that. Many had the fight a draw or either man winning by a smidge. Judge Adalaide Byrds very wide scorecard seemed dramatically off with Donaire upset by the decision and asking for a rematch.Oscar Valdez TKO7 Hiroshige Osawa Retains a featherweight title Records: Valdez (21-0, 19 KOs); Osawa (30-4-4, 19 KOs)Rafaels remarks: Valdez, 25, of Mexico, could be on his way to major fights and big money but after winning a vacant world title by second-round knockout of Argentinas Matias Adrian Rueda in July, he got his title reign off to a strong start as he took apart mandatory challenger Osawa, 31, of Japan, who was taking a massive step up in opposition. Valdez brutalized him in a one-sided fight, dropping him with a clean right hand on the chin in the fourth round and battering him with a series of heavy blows in the seventh round until referee Vic Drakulich stopped the bout at 1 minute, 50 seconds. Now that Top Rank promoter Bob Arum and adviser Al Haymon are willing to match their fighters, Valdez could find a wealth of quality opponents in his future, such as the Carl Frampton-Leo Santa Cruz II winner, the Jesus Cuellar-Abner Mares winner or Lee Selby.Zou Shiming W12 Prasitsak Phaprom Wins a vacant flyweight title Scores: 120-107 (twice), 119-108 Records: Zou (9-1, 2 KOs); Phaprom (39-2-2, 24 KOs)Rafaels remarks: In 2014, Zou, the two-time Chinese Olympic gold medalist, dropped Phaprom twice and routed him by decision. Phaprom, 35, of Thailand, regrouped to win a dozen fights in a row by knockout and landed a rematch with Zou for one of the belts vacated by Juan Francisco Estrada. The rematch was equally one-sided as Zou, 35, scored a second-round knockdown on a clean right hand and won every round on each judges card except one. Phaprom was basically a punching bag for Zou, who was taller, stronger, quicker and plain old better. Its a huge win for Zou, who is Chinas most popular fighter and figures to make huge money there for as long as he can hang on to the belt. Also on the card, lightweight Robson Conceicao (1-0, 0 KOs), 28, made his professional debut less than three months after becoming the first Brazilian to win an Olympic gold medal in boxing, doing so at home in Rio de Janeiro Games. Conceicao, a three-time Olympian, cruised to a shutout decision (60-54 on all three scorecards) against Clay Burns (4-3-2, 4 KOs), 29, of Alexandria, Louisiana.Saturday at Potsdam, GermanyTyron Zeuge TKO12 Giovanni De Carolis Wins a super middleweight titlle Records: Zeuge (19-0-1, 11 KOs); De Carolis (24-7-1, 12 KOs)Rafaels remarks: On July 16, De Carolis, 32, of Italy, retained his world title by majority draw against Zeuge, 24, of Germany, in his first defense and a rematch was quickly arranged. Gary Barbaro Jersey. . The sequel was a thriller with a lot of back and forth action before the dramatic ending. Zeuge seemed to take command in the second half of the fight although both appeared exhausted as the fight went into the 12th round. But Zeuge mustered the energy to buckle De Carolis with a left hook that forced him to hold on. Zeuge nailed him with another hook to the head and he fell to the mat face first. He beat the count but took several more shots and seconds later fell into the ropes after taking a right to the body. De Carolis got tangled up in the ring ropes and as he got to his feet referee Roberto Ramirez Sr. waved off the fight at 2 minutes, 41 seconds. This was a very good fight.Friday at Corona, Calif.Taras Shelestyuk W10 Jaime Herrera Welterweight Scores: 96-93 (twice), 95-94 Records: Shelestyuk (15-0, 9 KOs); Herrera (15-4-1, 8 KOs)Rafaels remarks: Shelestyuk, 30, was a 2012 Olympic bronze medalist for Ukraine and now lives in Los Angeles, where he spars regularly with future Hall of Famer Shane Mosley. Headlining Showtimes ShoBox: The New Generation, he was a decided favorite against Herrera, but had his struggles in tight fight. Shelestyuk, a southpaw, found his groove in the second half of the fight and deserved the decision, although referee Raul Caiz Jr. docked a point from him for excessive holding in the fifth round. Herrera gave a big effort, but his skill set is just not on the same level as Shelestyuks. Herrera, 27, of Chicago, saw his three-fight winning streak go by the wayside.Constantin Bejenaru W10 Stivens Bujaj Cruiserweight Scores: 97-91 (three times) Records: Bejenaru (12-0, 4 KOs); Bujaj (16-1-1, 11 KOs)Rafaels remarks: In a battle of unbeaten undefeated fighters, Bejenaru, a 32-year-old southpaw from Moldova who fights out of Catskill, New York, survived a fifth-round knockdown on a left hook to win rather handily in a dirty fight filled with head butts and fouling. However, Bejenaru, who suffered a nasty cut over his left eye, was a lot busier and also benefited when referee Raul Caiz Sr. docked a point from Bujaj, 26, a native of Albania based in New York, for hitting on the break in the ninth round.Manuel Mendez KO1 Vitor Jones Freitas Lightweight Records: Mendez (13-1-2, 9 KOs); Freitas (12-1, 6 KOs)Rafaels remarks: Mendez, 26, of Indio, California and fighting in front of his home region fans, pulled an upset as he drilled Freitas, 23, of Brazil. Freitas, who is the nephew of Brazilian legend and former lightweight and junior lightweight titleholder Acelino Popo Freitas (who was ringside) went after Mendez, who is trained by Joel Diaz, early in the opening round and seemed to be in control. But then Mendez went on the attack and hammered Freitas with a left hook to the body. Freitas went down in major pain and referee Tom Taylor counted him out at 2 minute, 32 seconds. Freitas stayed down well after the count was complete.Friday at Las VegasAndy Vences Tech. Dec. 9 Casey Ramos Junior lightweight Scores: 88-83, 87-84, 86-85 Records: Vences (17-0, 10 KOs); Ramos (23-1,6 KOs)Rafaels remarks: It doesnt happen often, but Top Rank matched two of its undefeated prospects in the Solo Boxeo main event on UniMas. Vences, 25, of San Jose, California, and Ramos, 27, of Austin, Texas, but on a good display of boxing and both looked pretty good after a slow start. By the seventh round, Ramos was bleeding from his nose. An accidental head but opened a cut around Ramos left eye in the ninth round. Later in the round, referee Vic Drakulich had the ringside doctor take a look at Ramos eye and on the doctors advice stopped the bout at 1 minute, 12 seconds. They went to the scorecards for a technical decision and Vences came out on top in a competitive fight.Alex Saucedo vs. Raymond Tito Serrano Welterweight Scores: 77-74 (twice), 76-75 Records: Saucedo (23-0, 14 KOs); Serrano (21-4, 9 KOs)Rafaels remarks: Saucedo, 22, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, is a very bright prospect and took a bit of a step up in competition against Serrano, 27, of Philadelphia, who was fighting for the first time in 13 months and coming off a loss but whose defeats had only come to good opponents (Karim Mayfield, Emanuel Taylor and Brad Solomon). It was a tough fight but Saucedo had the better of the action, including late in the second round when he scored a knockdown with a right hand. Saucedo was the aggressor in an entertaining fight and this was the kind of win every prospect needs on his way to bigger and better things. Also on the card, Philadelphia super middleweight prospect Jesse Hart (21-0, 17 KOs), 27, the son of 1970s middleweight contender Eugene Cyclone Hart, knocked out Andre Hernandez (16-5-1, 7 KOs), 30, of Phoenix, at 1 minute, 59 seconds of the third round. Hart dropped Hernandez in the first round before finishing him with a flurry in the third round. ' ' '
