Until it started going OSRS gold downhill we've had up vacation events until 2012. They do not even try anymore. Not everybody is all about the xp. I want and are not just targeted toward whales who'll spend thousands on bucks on xp. If you are smart with your money you would not purchase it. You're better off saving the 20 bonds in ur pouch and renewing a bond when an upgrade that interests you comes out.

For me to do I'm Comped, but there's still plenty more. Bought my bonds ago. Year I'll get Trim. Or buy Warden. Or make it to Rax. Or even Boss. Who knows. But I am certainly going to continue playing because there is a whole lot of stuff I wish to do, and best club gives me a means to do that. 20 instead of 26, hell, it even saves bonds too.

So the way I see it is that: Cheap Runescape gold is a free game that I has content I want to play, love playing with, and even ends up saving me money because I am spending time playing with this rather than buying something new. For entertainment, the cost is completely worth it, if not the very best bang for my buck beside library books to me.

I have never paid for membership. I play the runescape game do some quests amd then get bored and leave for some time. If I want membership beyond that I buy a bond to the GE, which I guess makes people more inclined to buy bonds but at the point it's so indirect that I don't think jagex would notice a difference in my part. I might have never given them money at all. I haven't. And I have a good deal of fun with runescape when I am in the mood.

Young gun Tuimoala Lolohea says his return to the Warriors starting line-up for Saturdays extra-time victory over Penrith could have been better, but is a good first step. Air Force 1 Discount .The 21-year-old showcased his trademark footwork at fullback in the 20-16 win at Mt Smart Stadium and produced an exciting run down the left flank to help create his sides first try.But he also failed to prevent a Peter Wallace 40-20 kick late in the second half and occasionally looked shaky under the high ball, dropping one Panthers bomb under pressure.Lolohea, who started on the bench in three of his sides previous four matches, told NZN he was content with his performance but knew he needed to produce more to retain his starting position.A couple errors here and there, but I just got on with the job and Im pretty happy, Lolohea said. Its the first game back for a while starting, but I feel like I performed pretty well. The Warriors wasted an eight-point lead by conceding two second-half Josh Mansour tries but came good when it counted with a piece of Shaun Johnson extra time magic.Johnson shaped to kick a field goal before skipping past onrushing Panthers defenders to plant the ball over the line in the 89th minute. It was the first time the Warriors had managed to snare victory in extra-time after a streak of four golden-point matches in five games.Lolohea said Johnson was one of the few NRL players with the audacity to attempt such a move.Im speechless, how that turned out, he said. Its something only certain people can do and Shaun is one of them. The win lifts the Warriors into the top eight on points difference with five matches remaining, and Lolohea was confident his side could use the victory to build finals momentum.I felt like we were on top of them, he said.Weve just got to keep playing good footy and performing, keep getting better each week. Yeezy Boost 700 China . It was Kerbers third final of the year after losing to Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova of Russia in Monterrey in April and to Petra Kvitova of Czech Republic in Tokyo two weeks ago. The 10th-ranked German improved her record in finals to 3-5. Cheap Air Max 95 China . -- Matt Ryan needed one of the best games of his career to lead the Falcons and their depleted offence out of their three-game losing streak last week. http://www.cheapairmaxchinawholesale.com/yeezy-boost-380-outlet.html . Ferrer, trying to win his fourth title on Mexican soil, will next play South Africas Kevin Anderson, who eliminated American Sam Querrey,7-6 (2), 6-4. Also Wednesday, Gilles Simon (6) of France beat Donald Young of the United States 6-4, 6-3, Ukraines Alexandr Dolgopolov downed Frenchman Jeremy Chardy 6-3, 6-4 and Croatias Ivo Karlovic defeated Dudi Sela of Israel 7-6 (4), 6-2. Things just dont get any easier for the Seattle Seahawks. When the Russell Wilson era began in 2012, they immediately developed a built-in rivalry with the divisions strongest team, the brutally dominant San Francisco 49ers. After Wilson lost his first meeting against the Niners, he threw four touchdowns in a 41-13 rout in Week 16 of his rookie season. Seattle split its?2013 regular-season contests with San Francisco before famously vanquishing the 49ers in that postseasons NFC Championship Game (the Sorry Receiver game). Since that loss, the Niners have gone through three head coaches while posting a 13-19 record. At the end of the 2013 season, though, a new rival began to peek through the clouds. The Arizona Cardinals hired Bruce Arians, traded for Carson Palmer and narrowly missed out on the playoffs with a 10-6 season. That run included a rare 17-10 defeat of the Seahawks in Seattle in Week 16. The Seahawks swept a Palmer-less Cardinals team in 2014, but with Palmer recovered from a torn ACL, the Cardinals roared to the top of the NFC West in 2015. Arizona went 13-3, including a 39-32 comeback win over Seattle in the Pacific Northwest, before things went south at the very end of the year. The Cardinals were blown out by the Seahawks in Week 17, only for the NFC champion Panthers to destroy both the Seahawks and Cardinals in consecutive weeks in the postseason. Now, as we enter 2016, the Cardinals and Seahawks rank among the favorites to win Super Bowl LI. The biggest obstacle in their way, unfortunately, is each other. The easiest path to the Super Bowl, as last year reminded us, is with home-field advantage along the way, and its always going to be more difficult for a team like the Cardinals to finish with the conferences best record when they have to play twice against a team as good as Seattle. The Panthers were excellent last year, but they finished behind Arizona and Seattle in DVOA and faced the leagues easiest schedule. The second-place team in the Panthers division was the 8-8 Falcons. It might not surprise you to remember that the Panthers went 5-1 against the NFC South and outscored their brethren by 81 points in those games.Seattle and Arizona have it rough. But how rough? How often do teams as good as the 2015 Cardinals and Seahawks end up in the same division? And, with the expectation that both teams will again be among the leagues best in 2016, how does the presence of such talented competition nearby impact each teams respective Super Bowl chances?History Says...It would be great if we had an advanced metric like DVOA dating back to the beginning of time, but unfortunately, it runs back only through 1989. Our best simple measure of team performance, one that predicts future performance better than win-loss record itself, is point differential. To try to find teams and divisional races similar to the one Arizona and Seattle fought last year, I went back and ranked each team in each given year by point differential. Then, I took the top two teams in each division going back to the AFL-NFL merger in 1970 and found what the average of their point-differential rankings was to get an estimate of their skill levels. Even I can admit that sentence was no fun, but it gives us a good idea of how great the teams at the top of each division were. This sort of methodology confirms that the Seahawks-Cardinals race in the NFC West last year was one of the toughest in modern league history. The Cardinals ?(+176)? ranked second in point differential, and the Seahawks (+146) were just behind them in fourth. Their average ranking, then, was third. (For AFC North fans, the Bengals and Steelers were fifth and seventh, respectively.)Thats just about as tough as it gets. There are 17 other times since 1970 in which the top two teams in a division have had an average point differential of three, most recently the 2013 race between these same Seahawks and 49ers. The Seahawks finished that year by winning their first Super Bowl, but they were the exception to the rule: Of those 34 teams, each among the four best in football in their respective years, five won the Super Bowl.Five races in league history have involved even tougher competition, including three 1-2 divisional punches that included the two best teams in football by point differential. Lets run through those five races chronologically in advance of the possibility that Arizona and Seattle might join them in 2016:1997 AFC WestKansas City Chiefs?(13-3, +143 point differential, second in league) and?Denver Broncos?(12-4, +185 point differential, best in league)This was a matchup, by point differential, of the two best teams in the league. Only the Packers (+140) and arguably the 49ers (+110) were in the same ballpark as the Broncos and Chiefs; nobody else in the league had a point differential better than +80. These two teams split their season series, with the Chiefs eventually winning the division by virtue of a narrow victory over the BBroncos at home when Pete Stoyanovich hit a 54-yard field goal as time expired. Air Max 90 Discount. Ironically, the Chiefs special teams collapsed in horrific fashion during a playoff loss to the Broncos, who went on to beat the Packers and claim the first of their back-to-back Super Bowls.1992 NFC WestSan Francisco 49ers?(14-2, +195 point differential, best in league) and?New Orleans Saints?(12-4, +128 point differential, third in league)This matchup of Nos. 1?and 3?wasnt quite as meaningful of a rivalry as the one between the Chiefs and Broncos. The Saints had the leagues top-ranked defense, a fact that seems ancient given their defenses in recent years, and they played the Niners tough but lost both their games against San Francisco after winning the division the previous year, when the 49ers started Steve Bono at QB for six games. (To be fair, Bono went 5-1.) The 49ers were about to kick off their rivalry with the newly dominant Cowboys, who posted the leagues second-best point differential at +166. Dallas beat San Francisco 30-20 in the NFC Championship Game, the first meaningful Cowboys-49ers matchup of the Jimmy Johnson era, and then promptly dispatched the Bills in the Super Bowl by 35 points. The Saints were beaten 36-20 at home by the Eagles in the wild-card round and didnt post another winning record until the 2000 season.1987 NFC WestSan Francisco 49ers?(13-2, +206 point differential, best in league) and?New Orleans Saints?(12-3, +139 point differential, third in league)Theyre back! This was the year when Jerry Rice scored 22 touchdowns in 12 games and somehow didnt win league MVP (on the AP ballot), which went to John Elway instead. Again, the 49ers arguably had another larger rivalry brewing in the Northeast. This time, it was against the Giants, who had knocked the 49ers out of the playoffs in the two preceding postseasons. The Saints held their own, though: They handed the 49ers one of their two regular-season losses, knocking Steve Young out of the game with a concussion before seeing Morten Andersen atone for a missed field goal?that would have beaten the 49ers earlier in the year by hitting a game-winning 40-yarder. The competition didnt help either team, and both lost their opening playoff games.1980 NFC EastPhiladelphia Eagles?(12-4, +162 point differential, best in league) and?Dallas Cowboys?(12-4, +143 point differential, second in league)There is little arguing that Cowboys-Eagles was, and is, a long-standing rivalry, of course. This specific matchup was a weird one: The Eagles had been in second place behind the Cowboys in the each of the previous two seasons under Dick Vermeil, with a Week 15 loss to Dallas in 1979 handing the Cowboys the NFC East that year, but this wasnt the same Cowboys team. Roger Staubach retired after 1979, turning things over to Danny White, but the Cowboys didnt skip much of a beat. The Eagles instead improved, beating the Cowboys before losing the rematch in Week 17 after the division had already been decided. Philly won the deciding third game in the playoffs, beating Dallas 20-7 in a game played in temperatures as low as minus-17 degrees, only to lose to Oakland (+58 point differential) in the Super Bowl. The Eagles wouldnt win another playoff game until 1992.1970 NFC CentralMinnesota Vikings?(12-2, +192 point differential, best in league) and?Detroit Lions?(10-4, +145 point differential, second in league)The most impressive pair of teams in one divisional race, coincidentally, came in the leagues very first post-merger season. The Lions had a point differential 22 points better than that of the third-place Rams, and nobody else was in triple digits. Detroit also faced a far tougher schedule than Minnesota, so theres a good chance the Lions were every bit as good as the first-place Vikings. In all fairness, the Vikings handled their business against the Lions in the regular season, winning two games against Detroit in a three-week stretch during early November. (One of Detroits two other losses came on Tom Dempseys then-record 63-yard field goal.)Neither team could turn its regular-season play into postseason success, though. The Vikings turned the ball over five times during a 17-14 loss to the 49ers, and the Lions suffered an even more ignominious defeat: They lost to the Cowboys in the first of two 5-0 games in league history.Thats a bit of a concern if youre a fan of todays Cardinals or Seahawks. Theres not a big enough sample to say anything definitive, but at the very least, the anecdotal evidence doesnt seem to suggest that the sharper competition hones teams for success in the postseason. Rivalries are fun, and the games between the Cardinals and Seahawks will be highlights of the regular season, but both teams would probably be better off with a less impactful team looming in the West on the way to January. CARY, N. Greg Swindell Jersey .C. -- Doug Garwood ran away with the SAS Championship on Sunday for his first PGA Tour Champions title, closing with an 8-under 64 for a four-stroke victory. The 53-year-old Garwood won in his 44th start on the 50-and-over tour. He finished at 16-under 200 in the regular-season finale at Prestonwood Country Club.It hasnt really settled in yet, Garwood said. Someone asked me last week when my last tournament win was and I blanked, I couldnt think of one -- so now I wont have so much trouble. Feels great. It was a great day, played well. Beat a champion in Bernhard Langer, and Larry Mize, in my group.Langer, two strokes ahead of Garwood and Mize entering the day, had a 70 to finish second.Doug just played phenomenal, Langer said. His putter was hot. He just hit it and went in, hit it and went in. He started walking after it and it dropped. He was, like, 9 under after 16 holes. Thats pretty amazing golf.Garwood birdied the last three holes on the front nine for a 6-under 30, made it four in a row on the par-4 10th, added birdies on the par-5 13th and 16th, and closed with a bogey. The putter was obviously hot today, Garwood said. I made a little adjustment. I was aiming a little bit right yesterday, and I worked on that and rolled in the 12-footer on 1, rolled in the 40-footer on 3 from the fringe, a short putt, about 4-footer on 4 for a two-putt birdie.I guess they were saying I was walking them in. The first one at 7 I was walking because it was short. I just played it off like I thought it was going in. Then, same thing on 8 and same thing on 9. I knew I had made those when I was walking.Garwood earned $315,000 to jump to 19th on the money list with $798,744. He also got a two-year exemption to the Mitsubishi Electric Championship in Hawaii.I didnt figure it would ever happen, really, Garwood said. I never anticipated winning. Ive never been goal-oriented, you know, projecting the future. I like to take it a day at a time, just live in the now. I just enjoy playing golf.Langer had four birdies and two bogeys. The 59-year-old German star leads the tour with four victories and $2,697,459. He won the 2012 event.I just didnt have my A-game today, Langer said. I missed a few shortish putts from 8 to 10 feet, three of four of them that I made the last few days. Then missed a few fairways as well. And this course, out of the rough, its a very tough golf course because you dont know how far that balls going, whether you get a flyer or not. And when it hits the green, it doesnt stop.Mize shot a 69 to tie for third with Tom Byrum (65) and Jeff Sluman (68) at 11 under. Miguel Angel Jimenez (65) was 10 under, and Colin Montgomerie (67) topped that group at 9 under. The top 72 players on the money list earned spots in the Charles Schwab Cup Playoffs opener, the PowerShares QQQ Championship at Sherwood in California on Oct. 28-30.Corey Pavin finished 72nd with $183,192, but is sidelined by a right elbow injury and wont play at Sherwood. Michael Bradley was 73rd, $2,388 behind Pavin. Bradley closed with a 69 to tie for 13th at 6 under. John Daly got in at 70th with $191,261 after skipping the event.A spot also was available for the top finisher in the top 10 in the tournament who ended up outside the top 72 for the season, but all the top-10 finishers were in the top 72. ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia -- Distance running great Haile Gebrselassie was elected president of the Ethiopian Athletics Federation on Saturday after saying the sport in his country had been stained by doping allegations and he wanted to clear that up. Football Jerseys Outlet .The two-time Olympic champion in the 10,000 meters received nine of the 15 votes in a ballot of Ethiopias regional athletics leaders. He beat two other candidates, with incumbent EAF president Alebachew Nigusse not standing for re-election.The 43-year-old Gebrselassie was elected for a four-year term.Gebrselassie is probably Ethiopias greatest ever runner, winning two Olympic and four world titles in a career that spanned over 20 years and also included a series of major marathon victories and world records in distances from 5,000 meters up to the marathon.I feel so honoured to be elected president of the Ethiopian Athletics Federation! Will work on a great future for Ethiopian athletics! Gebrselassie wrote on his official Twitter account. In an interview with The Associated Press ahead of the election, Gebrselassie said Ethiopian athletics was not on the right track. The country was underperforming in comparison to East African neighbor and distance running rival Kenya, Gebrselassie said, but also had its reputation undermined by a string of doping cases.Six Ethiopian athletes were suspended on suspicion of doping this year -- two of them have now been banned -- and the World Anti-Doping Agency warned the countrys authorities that they needed to strengthen their anti-doping programs. Our countrys name has been mentioned alongside other countries for doping, Gebrselassie told AP. One of my first jobs if I get elected is to make sure that athletes could win without doping by showing them that Im a living proof.Instead of challenging WADA and other anti-doping agencies, we have to be able to admit that we have a problem and then work hard to address it. I believe that Ethiopias doping problem is not deep. But certainly there are signs.Ethiopia has had to live in Kenyas shadow in recent years in terms of success on the track, a trend that continued at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro where Ethiopia won one gold medal in track and field compared top Kenyas six. Changing that was a priority, Gebrselassie said. The state of athletics in Ethiopia is not on the right track so I dont want to sit idle and watch it turn into ruins, Gebrselassie said. Ethiopias athletics potential is probably four times bigger than our neighbor Kenya. Our main problem is that we havent had a leadership that could bring out and nurture that talent. I cant think of a track on the NASCAR schedule that changes more from one race to another than Daytona International Speedway. It is front and center for competitors preparing to do battle in the summer classic, and while Daytona 500 winner Denny Hamlin and his Joe Gibbs Racing teammates will certainly be among the favorites Saturday night, not everything they utilized during this years Daytona 500 applies to this next race ...Here is why.The inability to maintain full throttle: The Daytona 500 is, and always will be, the most prestigious race on the schedule. Teams spend a large portion of the offseason focused on it, then begin the year with a week of track time constantly searching for speed on a track fresh and clean. As the week goes along, the track gets slick, and by race day in February, many drivers wish they had obtained more grip versus whittling away drag, which leads to straight-line speed. Its a comfort versus speed thing, and evidence of the value of a comfortable car was watching the solo spins of pole sitter Chase Elliott and restrictor-plate master Dale Earnhardt Jr. in the 500.The key to winning the Daytona 500 is a combination of speed and handling, but the key to winning Saturdays Coke Zero 400 is handling ... and handling!Keeping your right foot to the floorboard will be difficult for drivers Saturday because the track in the summer months (even at night) can be difficult to navigate. The fastest, best drafting car is virtually useless if its driver has to lift off the accelerator through the turns and will be passed by all those that qualified behind it as a result.Dark horse: With a restrictor-plate race comes the posssibility of a surprise or upset. Wholesale Jerseys For Sale. At the top of my list is pole sitter?Greg Biffle.Greg is much like last weeks winner Tony Stewart in that he has had a brilliant career. He is in the late innings of it, but I believe there exists the potential for at least another win before he chooses to hang up his helmet.Greg may not get the attention of Stewart, or last years retiree Jeff Gordon, but he probably should get more than he has. After all, like Gordon, he has spent his entire career with one car owner. That is amazing in itself. On top of that, Greg is a former champ in the truck and Xfinity series, came within a whisker of a cup title and is a previous winner of this event.Dont underestimate the potential of Greg Biffle to find Victory Lane again. Owner Jack Roush was wise to discover him early, wise to retain him late. The bottom lineDenny Hamlin, Matt Kenseth and Martin Truex Jr. will be strong contenders Saturday just as they were in February. But charting your course to Victory Lane will require driver comfort versus driver speed, as the historic Superspeedway wont be as forgiving as it was in February.Evidenced by Earnhardts and Elliotts solo spins in the Great American Race, nothing at this track can be assumed -- or taken for granted.A near-perfect race behind the wheel, a near-perfect day on pit road and a spotter performing as your conscience will all aid in your chance of victory. From a simplistic standpoint, your ability to keep the right pedal planted to the floorboard probably matters most. SPA-FRANCORCHAMPS, Belgium -- Max Verstappen has vowed to continue re-writing the Formula One record book after securing the first front row start of his career for the Belgian Grand Prix. Cheap Jerseys From China .?A super lap at the start of Q3 was enough to secure second for Verstappen, who finished the session 0.149s off pole man Nico Rosberg. It means he is the youngest man to ever start on the front row -- earlier this year he became F1s youngest winner with his stunning maiden Spanish Grand Prix victory.Asked what it meant to break another record, the 18-year-old replied: To be honest actually not that much, Im just very happy to be on the front row in Spa, in front of my fans. I mean its great to break a record but I want to break other records.Verstappen -- who sat out most of the morning session with an gearbox issue -- did not feel he had maximised the performance of the car in Q3 but thinks the same can be said of Rosberg and Mercedes. You can always do a better job but I think also Nico could have done a better lap, its always when you put everything together but I think in the end to be so close to them on a track with some long straights, we can be very pleased with that. The whole weekend has been very smooth, even though I had some issues this morning but from there on, the mechanics did a great job and in qualifying the car was working really well as you could see in sector two, so Im very pleased to be second here in front of my fans, its just a great motivation when you see them next to the track.Asked if he could have found more pace with a clean FP3, he said: Thats always very difficult to say. It just gives you a better reference straight away. But anyway we should be on our limits quite easily and after one run in Q1 it was there again. So maybe, maybe not. With no Dutch Grand Prix on the calendar, this weekend is effectively a home race for Verstappen, with a legion of Dutch fans flocking to the Spa-Francorchamps circuit. Survival it is, as the series returns to Cleveland for a final resolution. This postseason has been all about relievers, from Zach Britton to Kenley Jansen to Cody Allen to Aroldis Chapman to, of course, Andrew Miller, and in the way they are used or -- in Brittons case -- not used. Somewhat ironically, the 2016 Fall Classic might be about to become more about the starting pitchers. Fake China Jerseys. Although it can be argued that Corey Kluber is the best starting pitcher in this World Series, the Cubs have to be feeling pretty good about their two, Jake Arrieta and Kyle Hendricks, who happen to be the 2015 and 2016 National League contact managers of the year, respectively. SHANGHAI -- In a room full of bright-colored cubes and giant mattresses, giggling children climb bars, try somersaults and walk gingerly on a low balance beam. Some stand on their hands, showing off their bellies under the guidance of four coaches. It was pure fun for 8-year-old Lucy Huang, a chubby-cheeked, cheerful and talkative girl. Her parents have modest goals for her progress: they hope the lessons help her stay fit, improve her balance, and help brain development.I love it here because theres lots of fun. I love doing flips forward and backward, and I like the rings, she said in one breath while sitting on the balance beam, her legs dangling. The scene in downtown Shanghai might be common in western countries but is a rare sight in China, where parents have eschewed gymnastics lessons for their children. The mere mention of gymnastics usually evokes stereotypical, decades-old images of little boys and girls tearfully practicing splits, living away from home under the watch of strict coaches, all for the chance at an Olympic gold. This summer, Chinese athletes that primarily grew up in the decades-old state sports system are still expected to dazzle the world and scoop up dozens of medals when the Summer Games open in Rio de Janeiro. But at home there are strong efforts to reform the state-led system, which is struggling to recruit the next generation of stars despite its glorious records of churning out hundreds of Olympic gold medalists and world champions. The current system is to rally national resources to train a few to win the Olympic golds and win honors for the country, said Xiong Xiaozheng, a retired sports professor in Beijing. But this strategy no longer works with todays society, and is losing its advantages.Without change, Chinas spot among the worlds elite in sports is in danger.---Established in the 1950s, Chinas state-led sports training system was tasked with rallying national pride. The poor, communist country was in need of international accolades, and bringing potential stars into one place was a cost-efficient way to train athletes. When the country did not have the resources to popularize any sport, when families were still struggling to feed themselves, the only way to train top athletes was to pool all the resources the country had then, said Ye Zhennan, who will travel to Rio as manager for Chinas national gymnastics team. For a long time, it worked. The system pushed China into top place in the gold medal hunt, peaking in the 2008 Beijing Olympics with 51 golds. Four years later, China grabbed 38 golds in London, trailing only behind the sports powerhouse United States. In the system, local governments scout out potential talent at very young ages, often in pre-school. The children are separated from their families but corralled in state sports schools -- overseen by sports authorities rather than education officials- to go through strict training programs for the sole purpose of winning world titles or Olympic golds. The young athletes must go through rounds of elimination as they advance to the city team, the provincial team and eventually the national team. They must reach the top of the podium at the Olympics, or are considered failures. The path is extremely narrow, recalled Cheng Liang, a former national all-around champion in artistic gymnastics. Because of injuries, he dropped out before the 1996 Atlanta Games.Less than one percent of athletes reach the apex and are generously rewarded with fame and cash. They become household names, or even national heroes, with glowing reports published in state media. Those who fall off the path often find themselves tossed back into a bewildering society with inadequate academic preparations or social skills.Training is always the top priority, instead of school, Cheng said.Chinese families, especially poor rural households, were willing to send their children to the all-expenses-paid sports schools, and young athletes eliminated usually were able to find jobs in a state-planned economy. But after decades of rapid growth, China has become the worlds second largest economy. Its people have much fatter wallets and far more life choices for themselves and their children. Sports schools, and their slim shot at success, are not as alluring. Add to that allegations that China has used underage gymnasts -- they were ordered to return a bronze medal won in the Sydney Games -- and parents decide to opt out.Parents these days want their children to enjoy a normal life, Cheng said.---It is a far fetch to think Lucy, the giggly girl in the Shanghai gym, and her playmates may one day compete for China on a world stage. Yet the reason she can learn gymnastics at all is a reflection of changges that have made the sport recreation, instead of a career choice. Air Max 270 React Cheap. Criticism of the state system has grown louder in the past decade, as members of the Chinese public are increasingly rebelling against the notoriously ruthless, rigid training regimes, exploitation of young athletes, and proclivity for dishonest practices such as game rigging.Taking cues from gymnastics powerhouses such as the United States and Japan, Chinese sports officials believe the answer lies with popularizing sports.Already, Beijing has ordered the countrys football association to be divested from the government and has issued policies to promote the sport on school campuses. The country has commercialized football and basketball through leagues, with varying degrees of success. Road running and swimming are also beginning to take root among the public and are especially popular with members of Chinas growing middle class.Gymnastics is a bigger challenge. Chinese officials must popularize the sport after decades of keeping it from the public, reserved only for a chosen few.In the public eye, gymnastics is an elite sport. How can you popularize a sport that is widely considered to be extremely difficult, tiring and dangerous? said Wang Tongjie, director of gymnastics at Chinas General Administration of Sport. There are only 7,000 registered Chinese gymnasts, Wang said. The United States -- with a population only one-fourth of Chinas -- has nearly 150,000 competing gymnasts at all levels. There is a huge gap in talent between Chinas national team and the feeder teams at the provincial level, said Ye. The national team taps the countrys best to come up with 10 top gymnasts, a number small enough to achieve, for the Olympics, he said.Team China is covered for now.The future is not so certain. What we have is about to become broken, but the new system is yet to be established, Ye said. He points to a former powerhouse that failed to qualify for Rio as a team this year as a tale of caution. If we dont change, we will be like Romania.---His Olympic fortunes faded, and Cheng, the former national champion, moved to Alberta, Canada, in 1998 to work for a gym club. There, he was taken aback by what he saw: Kids of all sizes, some fat and slow, all learning skills. Gymnastics did not have to be an elite sport at all.I saw everybody doing gymnastics, and I realized this is a sport for everybody. Its a fundamental sport, Cheng said.Sensing the changes in China, Cheng started to look for opportunities after the 2008 Beijing Olympics. By 2012, Cheng set up Chinas first private gym club in the eastern city of Changzhou, catering to toddlers and children. He and his brother opened two more in Shanghai in late 2015 and signed up 300 members within six months. Annual membership costs more than $2,000, but local families with decent incomes see the membership as a good investment in their children. In our education system, sports are not very important, and there are few opportunities for kids to play, unless they opt for a training career, said Yu Zhiqiang, a fund manager whose 9-year-old daughter Amanda is taking lessons with Chengs gym club.I would like to have her to have fun with gymnastics, her father said. If shes truly talented and is willing (to take on a professional career), we will support her.Four years after Chengs gym opened, there are now 35 private gyms across China, and they have the support from the countrys sports administration, said Wang, from Chinas General Administration of Sport. She is also pushing to introduce gymnastics to more kindergartens and grade schools across China.Reforms at state sports schools are also under discussion. Wang said the plan is to gradually turn state sports schools over to education authorities, so the young athletes will no longer only focus on sports. They will instead become students that must meet the same expectations as their peers. We have to change the public opinion of the sport, and weve found it necessary to put the word `happy before gymnastics, Wang said. The word `happy may be superfluous in western countries to describe this sport, but if we dont do so, the public wont even give it a try but turn away at the mention of gymnastics. If the reforms are successful, the path toward Olympic gold will still be paved with sweat, rigor and sacrifice. But there will be a difference.By then, we will have athletes who really want to do it themselves and who can truly experience the joy of the sport, instead of those in the past who went into the field because the country asked them to do it, Wang said.
